i am sitting outside eating macaroni & cheese, on my balcony with a full-frontal view of university high school ['cool people call it uni high, jenn'] & there is a guy in an apartment building next to mine rocking out on his [unplugged?] guitar to roxanne. another dude just ran by panting so loud i watched him for a second to make sure he wasn't going to collapse, & then an old man walked past at about 0.00003 miles an hour with his pomeranian while holding a flowered couch cushion in his free hand.
i'm at my parents' house for mother's day weekend & besides watching raiders of the lost ark on usa [really though how did i forget how cute karen allen was?] i am so bored, so here is some FUN SHIT i've been up to lately:
- i ran a 5k last month in about 35min. pretty awesome even though that distance is like, nothing. i'm seriously considering training to run the half marathon [13.1 miles] at disneyland in august. we'll see!
- work work work, another fashion week came & went. the gift bags were sweeter for the spring 08 shows.
- i went to disneyland with taylor for my birthday. it was 102 degrees outside, but we didn't know that until we got home because we were under the impression that it only got to 93 degrees, which psychologically enabled us to not be miserable. regardless, it was a great birthday.
- speaking of taylor, we just got a new bitchin apartment in west los angeles. it is the cutest place ever with a brass doorknocker, a mantle/fireplace, & hardwood floors. i can still take surface streets to culver city. & i'm paying almost $200/month less than i have been for the townhouse. plus i'm living with taylor! finally! sweet.
- took a little trip to san francisco a couple weeks ago [again, with taylor]. dude, sf loved us. we met people all over the place. i also got to see matt & maverick which was amazing! i missed them both so much.
- i've been going to upright citizens brigade like, a lot. i'm kind of obsessed. when i went last week we were having dinner at the thai place nearby before we got in line & tony hale walked in with a few friends. when the waitress greeted him he looked around anxiously & asked, 'ummm yeah, can we sit here?' & motioned EXACTLY LIKE BUSTER BLUTH i shit you not, i almost died right there. heyyyy big brother. then david cross was the surprise guest at our show so it was a very 'arrested' evening. except unlike tony, david acts nothing like tobias funke in real life.
- i am going to salt lake city, ut memorial day weekend for one of my friend/co-worker's wedding. she is not mormon, but is having a super traditional & elegant ceremony. i hope my purple hair is well-received.
- i just had another bellydance recital last week. it was a drum solo routine that i loved so much. after class i was hanging out with my guests & my teacher [basically my hero] gave me a hug & invited me to start staying for the advanced class because 'beginning is too easy for you.' hells yeah guys. deliciously tacky bellydance costumes, here i come!
in conclusion, nothing grosses me out quite like pork rinds.
i could watch this damn performance all day long. THIS is what i call choreography, THIS is what i call a show, none of this beyonce/fergie/hannah montana booty-slapping bullshit! not to mention, dare i say he actually looks....ATTRACTIVE? must be the skinny tie?
a dude could win my heart with moves like these.
my favorite part is 2:54 when he tips his hat lolzzzzz i'm such a loser.
'this one's for you!' hahahahahah
i also refuse to apologize for or be ashamed of my everlasting love for michael jackson!! ok...maybe michael jackson pre-2005. but still!
i feel as though i need a disclaimer saying that this onslaught of mj appreciation was brought on by the fact that i not only watched moonwalker with my entire family on christmas eve [perfectionnnnn], but also received his complete collection of 'short films' & video greatest hits unda mah tree. bitchin.
i haven't posted in over two months & i can't think of anything else to say. i am not ashamed to admit that i totally fell in love with 'so you think you can dance' this season & i am pissed that sabra won because she is annoying & talks like she has a perpetual stuffy nose. my baby gurl haircut twin lacey is the winner in MY eyes :[
OH i live in west los angeles now, 'culver city adjacent' near mar vista. i am bored a lot & i like to walk to whole foods down the street when i am lazy & hungry to kill time.
last month i went to dinner at a place called bamboo on venice blvd., got food poisoning, & spent the next day in st. john's hospital emergency room, it was AWESOME. don't eat there.
definitely had the best time EVER in san diego this past weekend, but that's a separate post to come later.
for now - a couple months ago, the team & i had to basically re-vamp all of LORAC's webpages on sephora.com [the most successful beauty 'e-tailer' in the world], & right before i left work today i found out our pages were up. well, i was assigned a certain complexion page that had to explain a specific makeup system LORAC markets...i did a layout design mostly for my own benefit, because we all assumed we would write all the text for our pages & sephora would change it around accordingly.
when our sephora.com executive wrote us to tell us about the website change, she wrote, 'this page is my favorite...great work!!!' & linked TO MY PAGE!
if anyone wants to listen, i'll send it to you over aim, my sn is ewwww jenn. honestly, everyone should be able to enjoy this, if you haven't already. i want to share. yay!
so i had my very first 'office' holiday party yesterday, complete with a white elephant gift exchange. i walked away with a salad spinner, three pairs of cute underwear, a massive harry & david gift basket, a shitload of candy, & most importantly, a ketel one gift set that included a massive bottle of vodka & a silver cocktail shaker. i'm actually more excited to own the shaker. really!
anyways yeah so that happened & then i had my year-end review aka my 1/4 of a year-end review because that's basically how long i've been working there, & even though i'm relatively new they gave me a bonus for an amount i can't disclose, but it'll pretty much pay for the excessive amount of christmas shopping i've done in the past two weeks. way good.
yeah! christmas magic!
here's a picture! from left to right it's jannie[graphic artist], stacy[product development manager/my boss], me, & elyse[my partner in crime]. with our forces combined, we are the LORAC cosmetics creative team & as you can see, IT IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!
i have recently started using my last.fm account again. so...add me, & plz judge me.
i am the worst ever, i forgot to mention that last month was me & dan's two-year anniversary. WHAT THAT IS A LONG TIME. i got him a black ds lite because i'm the best girlfriend ever[read: i knew he'd share], & jason made him a custom ds carrying case with his jfish fish pillow material :] pretteh goooood.
a semi-unflattering picture of us that ended up on rony's photobooth
my family & i ate thanksgiving dinner with queen as our background music... later on we all watched two or three episodes of rob & big[which they all find hilarious, hell yes!]... & then rounded out the nite with some good conversation & enjoying vh1's countdown of the top 100 80's songs.
so we like television, i guess...but i loved my thanksgiving. & i love my family.
i hope all of you out there had a really wonderful day :]
i went to lake havasu this past weekend with dan to visit my grandma & it was perfect. not havasu, just visiting my grandma. i felt so much better about everything in my life after spending time with her, & it wasn't even like she was a fountain of wisdom for two days straight, either; it was just nice. a breath of fresh air. i miss her so much already.
my saturday nite was spent combing through several albums of old photos & postcards, most dating back to as early as 1909. sunday morning, my inexplicable love for bob's big boy was re-kindled when we ate breakfast there. don't ask...it's sentimental, ok?
here's a few pictures i like, then an internet survey to dumb this entry down a bit, because so far, it's probably the closest thing to a serious entry i've written in like...a year. unacceptable! i make no sense. time for bed...post-survey. someone stop me from typing. all right, this is sufficiently dumb now.
